Counterfeit Kit Challenge November Reveal and Blog Hop

Welcome Friends!

It has been a whirlwind here, but all good things.  Scrappy time seems to come few and far between these days, but I am still committed to creating...even if it's just a little bit each month.
I'd be fooling myself by making a huge kit, so this month's kit offers just the right amount.
One might say..."Perfectly Portioned!"

Take a look at this jiffy little slideshow I put together to showcase my sensible portions.
Check it out HERE !

NOTE:  Please pardon the advertisement.  You can "x" out of it or just wait and the slideshow will start within 5 seconds.
You do not need to download anything to watch.

Enjoy!

Next, you will hop over to the next Forger to see what she's serving up.  It's kind of like during the holidays when you need to make the rounds and visit all of the family!  I know by the end of the hop you will be stuffed with inspiration.  Hopefully, in this case, you won't need an antacid!

A special welcome to our "holiday table" to Dawn!
Thank you for guest designing with us this month!

Counterfeit Kit Challenge October Kit Reveal and Blog Hop

Drip, drop!
Drip, drop!
It's a rainy day here in the northeast.  A perfect day to stay in and kit.
This month Master Forger, Susan chose a collection pack for us to counterfeit.
"Indigo Hills" by Pink Fresh Studio is a bit modern for my taste, but there's always a way to approach the inspiration when it doesn't speak to you.
My eye was immediately drawn to the indigo blue and yellow, so that's the way I'll tackle my kitting.

Here's my take called...

"Scrappin' in the Rain"

Let's take a better look inside the umbrella to see the extras...

Touches of gold mimic the inspiration.  I'll be "showering" my layouts with more goodies than shown here as the month goes on.  I was having trouble gathering things that "worked" so I may have to take my lead from the specific layout I'm working on at the moment.

And the papers...

Classic papers from My Mind's Eye, Basic Grey and Authentique feel like the right fit for me.  The yellow and blue combination is a favorite of mine.

Let's welcome our guest designer, Kelly!  We are so happy you are playing along with us this month.

Be sure to hop along (and jump through rain puddles, too!) to all of the other Master Forgers.
Now I must go and bring in those supplies as rain and PAPERcrafting supplies don't mix!
Thanks for stopping by!

Challenge #3 - Call a Spade a Spade

Challenge #3 has us being inspired by the iconic (and expensive) style of Kate Spade.
Truth is that I've got caviar tastes with a tuna fish wallet!
I spotted this Kate Spade bag while browsing one the "better" department stores, but quickly got sticker shock when I noticed the price tag.
No way...no how could I justify carrying around a $300 wicker handbag even though I thought it was just adorable.
Plus, throw in my family's obsession with VW bugs and I was head over heels.

Oh well...a girl can dream!

Sigh...

Counterfeit Kit Challenge September Reveal and Blog Hop

And just like that...we are at the end of summer!  How did THAT happen?

September is here and the kids are going back to school.

We did just squeeze in a final trip to the beach with extended family which really pushed my time limits in getting this kit done.  Packing up for a week at the beach is no easy task (think:  sheets, towels, food, meal prep. as the in laws like to eat in and the list goes on).  My joke is that this isn't a vacay...it is a TRIP!  Anyway, I came home early to get my son off to his first day of school (yes, the in laws booked the TRIP without realizing that he would be going back to school) and my husband and daughter will finish out the week with the fam.  I had my papers chosen, but couldn't pull it all together before we left.  So, I was fighting for daylight to photograph and you will have to forgive the rather dark photos and brief blog post.

Master Forger Margie chose Felicity Jane's August Kit as our inspiration.

Here is my take on the kit...a nod to the last sweet days of summer.

My apologies for not taking you through my process of choosing my kit.  Working against the clock to get this done and my DS ready for his first day of school tomorrow.  I found a doctored up version of Dear Lizzie's Neapolitan collection made a great starting point and worked from there.  In the meantime, sit back and enjoy the hop with some Sweet Tea and then be sure to share your take on the CKC Linky.

Here's the blog order...starting with our guest designer, Nicole.
Welcome, Nicole!  Hope you have a fun month creating with us!

Challenge #3 - Inspired by a Foreign Language

Hello.  The third challenge for the month of August at Counterfeit Kit Challenge is to be inspired by foreign language.  I immediately knew what I'd do.  It was in my head, but I couldn't get it to come out on the page.  I tried and tried, but nothing was working.  I wanted to use the sunflower photos from my reveal photo shoot and use the word "fleur" as the title, but it just wasn't coming together.

In the meantime, I had another layout going that had come to a standstill.  It was a selfie I had taken of my husband and me on our cruise, but I couldn't find a title that made me happy.  The faux burlap chipboard letters are a rather wide font and anything too long doesn't work.  I had settled on "Grown Up Time" as the journaling talks about how we had some stolen moments on the cruise while the kids were off at their activity clubs.  Kind of a lame title, but it's all I could come up with.

Until something came to mind...
While struggling to make the layout for this challenge, the word RENDEZVOUS popped into my head!  Maybe it was subconscious because later my husband reminded me that the photo was taken in the Rendezvous Lounge!   How perfect is that?  I did have to break up the word due to the wide-ness of the letters, but it works for me.

So here are the photos of our rendezvous...

Thanks for stopping by.
Let's rendezvous again some time!

Counterfeit Kit Challenge August Reveal and Blog Hop

Welcome back to another month of scrappy fun!

Our creative leader, Lisa set us on an interesting path of inspiration.

Follow me down the garden path to see what she's found for us.

I immediately fell in love with the subtle vibe of this kit.  I just adore all of those neutral tones that remind me of canvas, linen and burlap...a very organic feel.

Keep following the path to my garden showcasing my August Kit...

Nothing more natural than a home garden.

Let's see what's growing!

Lots of natural, kraft and burlap to match the inspiration.
A bit of color is added with the MME hexagon paper.
Are hexagons out?  They were all the rage a few years ago.
If they are...don't care!  It's about time this beautiful paper gets used.
Some botanicals are added with that butterfly paper and the vellum.

I used this black floral piece to stand in for the bold black paper in the inspiration.

I love the "farmer's market" theme to this piece plus it ties in to the color scheme.
Burlap paper and faux burlap chipboard letters were a must!

Thin gold thickers (Oops!  I photographed them upside down!) stand in for the natural colored ones in the inspiration.  I think the style may be an exact match...just a different finish.

Natural colored labels and some journaling cards (from my dear Leslie) will hold my thoughts.

Look what I dug up!
Little spots, labels and banners in kraft, pink, and mint edged with black and gold.
  I'd say they're a perfect match!

So, I hope you are "naturally" inspired to create your hybrid variety kit.

Visit the scrappy gardens of my fellow Master Forgers and leave them some love.

A warm welcome to Karen, our guest designer!  So glad you are here.

Challenge #3 - Inspired by Puzzles

Summertime is a great time to pull out a puzzle.  We always seem to have one going over the summer months.  It's fun to sit for a long time and work on it or just when you have a few moments.

Luckily, I had a similar piece of crossword puzzle paper as seen in the inspiration kit so I definitely added it.

It was no puzzle at all to decide which story I wanted to tell for this challenge.  My husband is the ultimate problem solver.  He is one of those people that calls challenges "opportunities" and not obstacles.  He's a "glass is half full" kind of guy and I love him for that.  It balances out my "glass is half empty and there's a slow leak" attitude sometimes!  LOL!  I'm working on it and he helps me with that.  Just like I also help him get his head out of the clouds!

Anyway, here's the layout...

It was a light bulb moment for me when I realized "problem solved" would fit into the spaces!
Love when it works out like that!

Hope you are inspired to share a puzzle related layout with us!

Counterfeit Kit Challenge July Reveal and Blog Hop

Oh my goodness!  Oh my goodness!
Our featured Master Forger this month is Susanne.  She presented us with a summery and fun kit by
Scrapbooks and Cards Today.  Take a look at the inspiration:

When studying the kit, I focused in on the black, red and yellow.  My daughter is performing as Tessie the orphan in the a production of Annie Jr. and these colors reminded me of Annie's classic red dress and of course, the sun...which WILL come out tomorrow!

Presenting my July Counterfeit Kit...

Sit back and take in the show!

It's hardly the hard knock life with all of these scrappy goodies.  I was thrilled to find so many great substitutes for my counterfeit kit.

Now to wait for the intermission so I can start creating!

Welcome to Gretchen, our guest designer!

Be sure to hop along to all of the Master Forgers.

Counterfeit Kit Challenge June Reveal and Blog Hop

This month the Master Forger from Counterfeit Kit Challenge leading the inspirational way is Leslie.  She chose a fun and festive kit-to-copy from Hip Kit Club.  This was the kit they featured in May so it's ripe for forging!

What caught my eye first was the paper at the top center that looks like pennants or banners.  A festive feel, indeed!

How exciting it is when in the distance you hear the sweet sound of the ice cream truck (unless, of course, it is just before dinnertime or bedtime for your kiddos...then it's just a nuisance!  LOL!)  Its music box melody calling out to you to indulge in a Chipwich or Rocket Pop is almost mesmerizing.
The anticipation is all part of the fun!

WAIT!  I see it coming now!  Get your money ready and shout out STOP!
Here's my June Kit:

ICE CREAM TRUCK

Hope you can catch your ice cream truck in time so that you can carefully choose a scrappy treat.  I'm sure your stash has so many choices.
  Have fun and enjoy!

Be sure to see what other novelties the other Master Forgers
 have to share with you.

CKC Challenge #3 - A Touch of Tessellation

Over on the Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog, Jemma challenges us to use the ingenious art of Escher as our inspiration.  He often uses a pattern (or tessellation) to create interesting patterns in his pieces.

Take a look at how I incorporated this technique in my layout:

I used a touch of tessellation in my layout today.  I decided to use a series of overlapping circles to create what loosely looks like fish scales.  I'm featuring my son and his role as King Triton in the Little Mermaid Jr.  As I was playing around with the circles, I even found a pattern that reminded me of a fish tale shape.

 PERFECT!

How will you repeat a pattern on your page?

Can't wait to see!

Be sure to share on our Linky!

Counterfeit Kit Challenge May Reveal and Blog Hop

Are you ready for another month of scrappy inspiration?

Ready or not...here we go!

Now that Lisa is leading up the Counterfeit Kit Challenge blog, we have a few changes in store for you!  Don't worry...there's plenty that is going to stay the same, but we hope the few changes we make will energize your mojo for scrapping.

One of the changes is that the Master Forgers will be taking a turn each month to select the inspiration and prepare the monthly challenges.  We all have varied and unique tastes in scrapping, so this should give you a great selection of different kinds of kits and projects.  This month, Jemma made the selection.  Let's take a look!

UK based, "Quirky Kits" is in the spotlight this month with a fun selection of supplies to get the scrappy party started.   There's an add-on and embellishment kit, too, so you will want to head over to see all of your inspiration.

Here's my take...

I followed the inspiration pretty closely with the bokeh papers and black and white stripes.  Some black ribbon and gold ric-rac carry the same vibe.

No black and white striped letters in my stash, but the black and white polka dots should work.  I may have to be creative with my titles as there aren't many left.  Some gold star vellum will add the much needed feminine bling for my dress, while the turquoise houndstooth  paper brings in a subtle masculine touch.

Off to powder my nose and check out what's in my hot pink clutch...

Here are some fancier flair badges and some enamel dots to finish off a layout and my dress!  With a sprinkling of wood veneer stars and we'll be good to go!

We mustn't forget classic black slides and some classic black thickers to pull everything together.

Now, if I only had some where to go!

SIGH!

Oh well, guess I'll stay home and scrap!

Get your dancing shoes and party dress on and scrap the night away!

But first check out the rest of the inspiration provided by your Master Forgers!

A special welcome to Jane, our guest designer!  So glad you are playing along with us this month.
