I wish I could take credit for this inspired idea, but I really can't. That's ok because the person who should get it deserves a special shout-out. You may have seen a new name over on Mr. Linky - Susan B. She's a scrappy friend from my ScrapHappy group and LOAD who I invited over to play at Counterfeit Kit. She jumped right in and has been kitting and creating like a counterfeiting pro! No surprise as she is super talented and inspiring. She created this layout with the luscious border of sequins and as soon as I saw it, I thought of the first challenge of the month.
Challenge #1 - Create a unique and fun border on your layout.
Here's Susan's layout: (SWOON!)
And here is mine:
Ooooo! A thick, shiny border of sequins!
Perfect on my layout about Lisa's gift to me. You know she just loves sequins.
And I sprinkled some of them down the page for good measure!
So fun to document yet another aspect of my meet-up with Lisa. It was so sweet of her to travel across the ocean with gifts in hand for me. She truly is a super friend!
So, get ready to join the border craze! Be inspired by one of your scrap buddies and tell them that you are. Remember, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery! Thanks again, Susan!
A wonderful page and a great tribute to Lisa. Great sequin idea.
ReplyDeleteLynnette - thanks so much for the kind words and I love what you did with your layout! Cutting the scalloped paper was a nice touch and I also like how you scattered sequins throughout the layout. The doily is a great home for your journaling too. I'm going to have to give that a try. Thanks again for lifting me - I'm really honored!
ReplyDeleteBoth layouts are terrific! I love the woodgrain paper with the photograph with a wooden tabletop meal. It's the perfect backdrop! Nice design,...love the banner and circles!
ReplyDeleteFantastic lift! Welcome Susan to the Counterfeit family with a big bang! So sweet both layouts are
ReplyDeleteRecognized your inspiration instantly, for as you said, Susan is totally gifted & inspiring. You've done it one better with the fussy-cut scallops! Did you just lay down a heavy bead of glue, or use a double-sided tape to attach the sequins? Totally right about the perfect sparkly tribute to Lisa.
ReplyDeletebeautiful!!
ReplyDeleteMmm, yummy way to use sequins... will have to give this a try!
ReplyDeleteI love both layouts. Might have to scraplift the scraplifter. And the inclusion of butterflies is another bit of beauty that brings to mind the super friend. If Lisa had a cape, would it be made of sequins and shaped like butterfly wings?
ReplyDeleteNice job. I like how you used all those sequins - what a great way to use them up.
ReplyDeletewith all those circles, this layout could also fit WM#160! However, I'm honoured and blushing to be featured again on a layout! Susan's sequin border is a perfect addition to your page - yes, I love my sequins! And Susan's layout is a stunner so it's a perfect inspiration! I really love the addition of the Scrapabilly flairs and all the sprinkled sequins as we'll as your sweet, kind words! Lots of scrummy repetition here and a really lovely design. mmmmm!
ReplyDeleteLove both layouts. Very pretty.
