Counterfeit Kit Challenge February Reveal and Blog Hop

It's an exciting month!  My scrappy hiatus is complete and I am back just in time to welcome our February Kit presented by CKC participant, Emma Clark.  I "met" Emma through the Layout A Day scrapbook challenge and was thrilled when she started playing over at Counterfeit Kit. She is a prolific and dedicated scrapper who not only knows how to kill a kit with tons of super creative layouts, but now is also a kit club creator!  UK based, Mind the Scrap brings us our February inspiration entitled, "Snuggle".

FEBRUARY PRE ORDER

My interpretation brings us back to a 1950's diner.  The pinks and blacks with pops of teal and overall playful nature of the kit had me hanging out at the SOCK HOP!

Let's see if the dance floor is open...

My daughter's toy doll diner came in handy for my kit staging this month.  I followed the solid cardstock colors exactly by including a navy, turquoise and lime pieces.  (I love this combo!)  The geometic triangles just below the solids is a good stand-in for Emma's light blue and navy one.  In addition to sky high cakes, pies and malts,  you'll find my version of the transparency behind the counter.  While not clear, I felt the black scripty words and images made a perfect substitution.  Up above the "specials" board are a few more pieces of paper that round out the collection.  Some more turquoise and a multi-colored piece that stands in for the scalloped banner like paper.  Black thickers and more scripty words work well to mimic Emma's vibe.

Let's twist on over to the counter to see which kind of embellies are on special!

I added some Valentine goodies as love is in the air this month!

Some lacy doilies can pretty up the blue plate special or a layout!

Why don't you grab a booth, put a few coins in the jukebox and come up with your angle for this month's kit?  Whether it takes you down memory lane, through the sea of love or to inspiration point, I hope you create a kit that keeps you scrappin' around the clock!

Speaking of Sock HOP, it's time for you to HOP over to see Margie.

  8. Chocolate malt & a patty melt, please - & can I get fries with that? ;-) She's ba-ack! Your staging has my mini-lovin' heart. I think your kit will just about make pages all by itself, it's so packed full of goodies!

  9. I don't know anyone that doesn't love a '50's vibe. I would like to thank Gracie for sharing her malt shop with us. It is adorable. The scripty paper is a good stand in. I was thinking, if you wanted to forge, you could lay a clear overlay on it, and trace with a quick drying photo pen. And personally, in my humble opinion, no kit is complete with out paper doilies. You layouts will be hoppin' and boppin' all through the month.
